What to do if you have been injured in a public place

If you have been injured in an accident in a public place, the first step should be gathering evidence. Photographs of the accident site should be taken as soon as possible following the accident.
If any passers-by witnessed the event, their contact information should be taken. Eye-witness testimony may be important later.
